Volunteer Requirements


REQUIREMENTS

Volunteer Notes: If have not previously volunteered, you will be required to set up a profile through our Registrar as the HCR will reflect all completed courses and training. Certification for JDF volunteers MUST be attained by December 1 of the current playing season. Exceptions may be made depending on clinic schedules but require the approval of the Executive.

* Coaches who were previously certified at Coach 2 level are grandfathered and not required to take Coach 1

To register for the required courses, this now must be done online and paid by credit card.   You will be reimbursed by the Association upon showing proof of course completion.

Steps for Course Registration:

  1. Go to www.bchockey.net
  2. Click on Clinics.
  3. Click on Register to attend a BC Hockey clinic.
  4. Click on the clinic you are interested in attending.
  5. A list of location, address, city, start date, and course types will be listed as well as Signup.
  6. Click on signup.
  7. You will be taken to the Hockey Canada website, where you need to click on "create a new elearning account".
  8. Click on "I am not a member of Hockey Canada."
  9. Click on BC Hockey link.
  10. Click on your Association.
  11. Fill out information about yourself, including passwords and security questions, and hit create user.
  12. Your course selected should be listed.  If this is the course you want, click on Confirm Signup.  If not, hit Cancel.
  13. To pay for the course, go to the bottom of the page, and click on Pay Now.
  14. You will be required to enter your credit card information, and hit submit. 
  15. You will be e-mailed a confirmation from BC Hockey.

Notes: Minimum certification levels are listed. Certification must be attained by December 1 of the current playing season. Exceptions may be made depending on clinic schedules but require the approval of the Executive.


MANAGERS

  1. Must attain Respect in Sport Certification.
  2. Must submit a Criminal Record Check form.  
  3. Must complete CATT free online 25 minute course before going on HCR.


TEAM SAFETY

All teams MUST have a Safety Person regardless of division or level. 
  1. Must attain Canadian Hockey Safety Program certification.
  2. Must attain Respect in Sport certification.
  3. Must submit a Criminal Record Check form. 
  4. Must complete CATT free online 25 minute course before going on ice or HCR


EXECUTIVE

  1. Must attain Respect in Sport certification.
  2. Must submit a Criminal Record Check form. 
  3. Must complete CATT free online 25 minute course before going on HCR.


***FAILURE TO PROVIDE PROOF OF QUALIFICATIONS WILL RESULT IN YOUR TEAM BEING DECLARED INELIGIBLE FOR PLAY-OFFS***
