Certification Requirements

Certification Requirements
 
BCAHA and the CHA have set minimum certification requirements. Outlined below are the minimum requirements for each position.
 *Note that changes have been made to the coaching certification program. The old "Coach Stream" has been replaced by "Hybrid - Intro to Coach/Coach Stream". The old "Intermediate Level" has been replaced by "Developmental 1".  If you had a Coach Level, you now automatically have a Hybrid - Intro to Coach/Coach Stream accreditation. If you had an Intermediate Level you now have a Developmental 1 accreditation.

To register for the required courses, this now must be done on-line and paid by credit card.   You will be reimbursed by the Association on showing proof of course completion.

Steps for Course Registration:
1.  Go to www.bchockey.net
2.  Click on Clinics.
3.  Click on Register to attend a BC Hockey clinic
4.  Click on the clinic you are interested in attending.
5.  A list of location, address, city, start date, and course type will be listed as well as Signup.
6.  Click on signup.
7.  You will be taken to the Hockey Canada website, where you need to click on "create a new elearning account".
8.  Click on "I am not a member of Hockey Canada."
9.  Click on BC Hockey link.
10.  Clinic on your Association.
11.  Fill out information about yourself, including passwords and security questions, and hit create user.
12.  Your course selected should be listed.  If this is the course you want, click on Confirm Signup.  If not, hit Cancel.
13.  To pay for the course, go to the bottom of the page, and click on Pay Now.
14.  You will be required to enter your credit card information, and hit submit. 
15.  You will be e-mailed a confirmation from BC Hockey.  


        Notes: Minimum certification levels are listed. Certification must be attained by December 1 of the current playing season. Exceptions may be made depending on clinic schedules but require the approval of the Executive.

         MANAGERS - Must attain Speak Out Certification by October 31 of the current playing season. Exceptions as noted above. Must submit a Criminal Record Check form.

         SAFETY PEOPLE - All teams must have a Safety Person regardless of division or level.  Must attain Canadian Hockey Safety Program certification and Speak Out certification by October 31 of the current playing season. Exceptions are noted above. Must submit a Criminal Record Check form.

         EXECUTIVE - Must attain Speak Out certification by October 31 of the current playing season. Exceptions are noted above. Must submit a Criminal Record Check form.

         COACHES/ON ICE ASSISTANTS - Will not be permitted unless they attain the minimum level of certification as below. 

***FAILURE TO PROVIDE PROOF OF QUALIFICATIONS WILL RESULT IN YOUR TEAM BEING DECLARED INELIGIBLE FOR PLAY-OFFS.
